Twitter Introduces ‘Blue for Business’ with Square Profile Pictures

On Monday, Twitter has introduced “Blue for Business,” a new feature that allows businesses and their affiliates to verify and differentiate themselves on the platform.

With a subscription to Twitter Blue for Business, companies will have the opportunity to display a gold checkmark badge and a square company badge on their profile, while individuals affiliated with the brand will display a blue checkmark badge and a square company badge.

This feature aims to provide businesses with a way to authenticate and distinguish themselves on the social media platform.

“By creating this connection, we’re making it possible for businesses to create networks within their own organizations–on Twitter. Businesses can affiliate their leadership, brands, support handles, employees or teams. Journalists, sports team players or movie characters can all be affiliated. You name it, we got it. Each affiliate will be verified and officially linked to their parent handle based on a list provided by the parent business. We will share any new criteria, pricing or process as we update them,” stated Twitter in a blog post.

Twitter also said that it is currently testing “Blue for Business” with a select group of businesses and plans to roll out the service to a wider group of businesses who wish to subscribe in the future.

This new service aims to provide businesses with a way to verify and distinguish themselves on the platform, though further details about the specific features and benefits of the service, as well as the cost, are currently not available. It is expected that this service will be more broadly available to businesses in the coming year.

It’s worth noting that Twitter would be introducing a gray checkmark verification for “government and multilateral accounts”.

The implementation of this verification system is part of Twitter’s ongoing efforts to provide users with greater transparency and trust in the information shared on the platform.

It is currently unclear when this feature will be rolled out or how it will be implemented, but it is expected to be available in the near future.
